The CIC 34 Notes hold the content of the CIC 34 report. The report is built entirely from these notes, so anything left blank in the notes will be blank in the report.

This is the second step in the CIC filing process. For the full sequence, see CIC Filings in Accounts Production.

Before you start

The CIC option must already be ticked against the client. If CIC 34 Notes does not appear under Settings, see Enabling the CIC option for a client.

How to open the notes

Navigation > Accounts Production > Select a client > Settings > CIC 34 Notes

  1. Open the client in Accounts Production.
  2. Go to Settings, then CIC 34 Notes.
  3. Work through each of the six parts in turn.
  4. Edit and save each part individually.

All fields are empty by default. Each part is saved on its own, so completing one part does not save the others. Mandatory fields show a validation error if you try to save the part while they are blank.

The six parts

PartWhat it coversWhat you enter
1General description of the company's activities and impactFree text describing the activities carried out during the year and how they benefited the community. Mandatory. The part cannot be saved while this is blank.
2Consultation with stakeholdersYes or No. Selecting No inserts a default statement automatically. Selecting Yes unlocks three mandatory boxes: who the stakeholders are, how they were consulted, and what actions were taken as a result.
3Directors' remunerationIf the detail is already disclosed in the additional notes of the accounts, tick the confirmation box and enter the reference. If not, enter directors' emoluments, benefits in kind in aggregate, compensation for loss of office, benefits provided to third parties for directors' services, and the number of directors benefiting under each type of retirement benefit scheme, for the current and prior year.
4Transfer of assets other than for full considerationEnter each asset in the table provided along with its estimated fair value. Assets transferred at full value are not entered here. Additional narrative is optional.
5Interest paid at a performance related rateYes or No. Selecting No inserts a default statement. Selecting Yes unlocks a description of the borrowing, the effective interest rate and the interest cap value. If the effective rate is above the cap, a reason is also required. The method used to determine the rate is optional.
6SignatoryThe date of signing and the name of the director signing the report.

Points to be aware of

  • Write the content as it should read on the filed report rather than as an internal working note. The text is used exactly as entered.
  • The notes cover the current financial year only. There is no comparative content and no prior year version of the notes to complete.
  • Nothing is populated from the trial balance or from the annual accounts. Every part is entered manually.
  • Empty notes do not stop the report generating. Capium will produce the CIC 34 report with those parts blank, which is why the notes must be finished before you generate the report.

Next step

Generate the CIC 34 report. See Generating the CIC 34 report.
